WAYS A RADIO INSTITUTION USES SHOWS/STATIONS TO TARGET DIFFERENT AUDIENCES

The radio show that I chose from the institution, BBC Radio 1 was 'Westwood'. This show is always broadcasted on saturdays at 21:00pm - 23:00pm. There are also links to other Westwood features and pages on the BBC Radio 1 contact page which shows how to contact the show and links to Tim Westwood's Youtube channel and myspace page etc. The presenter of this show is the DJ Tim Westwood.

Here is the research that I have gathered on Tim Westwood:
  • Timothy Westwood is an English DJ and presenter of radio and television. He also presents the UK version of the MTV show Pimp My Ride. He is often referred to by other DJs and artists appearing on his shows simply as 'Westwood'.
  • Westwood is the most recognized urban DJ of the decade. He is regarded as the most influential figure in hip hop in Europe and as a pioneer of the UK scene.
Here is what others think of Tim Westwood:
  • Eminem:
"I'm a big fan of Tim, The guy is a one-off. No one does what he does"
  • Snoop Dogg:
"You can't come to the kingdom and not see the prince"
  • 50 Cent:
"Westwood is like my Funkmaster Flex overseas. He's one of the leading DJ's"
